Exactly what FrameMaker Imports

 

Breakdown of Import and Update options:

if import and update is checked... Imported from Document Dependencies?
Paragraph formats Everything in the paragraph catalog If Document Properties is selected, Acrobat bookmark settings (except bookmarks) are also imported.

Import character formats with this paragraph formats.

Character formats Everything in the character catalog  
Page layouts Master pages, page size, pagination (single/double-sided), change bar properties, units and snap (View > Options)  
Table formats Everything in the table catalog, color definitions, color views Import character formats with table formats.
Document properties
  • Document text options (Format > Document > Text Options)
  • Numbering settings (Format > Document > Numbering)
  • Custom marker typesAcrobat setup settings but not bookmarks
 
Reference pages All reference pages except FrameMath pages For FrameMath settings, import "Math definitions".

Import character formats with reference pages.

Variable definitions all variable definitions, this will overwrite your current variables Import character formats with Variable definitions
Cross-Reference formats all cross-reference formats Import character formats with Cross-Reference formats.
Conditional Text Settings condition tags, show/hide settings  
Math Definitions equation size and font settings for equations, custom math element definitions, FrameMath Reference pages Import character formats with math definitions.
Manual Page Breaks If checked, all manual page breaks will be removed  
Other Format/Layout Overrides If checked, FrameMaker removes: paragraph, character, page layout and table formating overrides
